Computer Graphics – Graphic Design Instructor

SUNY Sullivan invites applications for a full-time, entry-level, tenure-track position in Computer Graphics – Graphic Design beginning with the Fall 2022 semester. SUNY Sullivan faculty have the primary responsibility of teaching and assessing student learning. Faculty duties include teaching, advising, working toward continuous improvement to pedagogy and
discipline specific content, service to the College through shared governance, and sharing one’s expertise in Sullivan County. This position reports to the Dean of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Health Sciences. This position is classified as Faculty and the incumbent is a member of the Professional Staff Association.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants are required to have their Master’s Degree in Computer Graphics, Graphic Design and/or have significant field or industry related and teaching experience at the post secondary level.
  • Community College teaching experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate a strong design ability along with a comprehensive understanding of Mac based computer operating and networking systems.
  • Possess an in-depth working knowledge and competence using the following graphic arts industry standard software, such as, but not limited to the Adobe Creative Suite, including: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, Quark-Xpress, and Cinema 4D.
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach basic and advanced drawing/illustration with an emphasis on traditional hand skills and tools.
  • Possess the capability to teach introductory Digital Photography courses is a plus.
  • Applicants must also be able to interact with a diverse student and staff population.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and possess the ability to effectively interact with a diverse student and staff population.
  • Hold appropriate office hours.
  • Take part, as need in typical activities of a full-time faculty member, including the following: advising/mentoring students, developing curriculum, recruiting students and attending division and faculty meetings.
