SUNY Sullivan’s Celebration of Earth Day
Thursday, April 21, 2016
This Thursday 4/21, SUNY Sullivan will be celebrating Earth Day with a number of exciting events!
Beginning at 10:00 AM, you can find all kinds of earth-friendly info, samples, and products at our Vendor Tables, which will be set up in the E-Lobby and adjacent hallways.
We are proud to welcome ALL 250 of the Monticello School District’s 5th-Graders between 10:00-1:00, who will learn about Sustainability and Community through a number of interactive, faculty-led activities.
We will host TWO AUTHENTIC WILDLIFE SHOWS, compliments of Simmons Wildlife. These are free and open to the public. Shows begin at 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon sharp in the Seelig Theatre. Out of courtesy to the animals that will be on stage, please be on time & help us limit unnecessary disruptions.

The work on our exciting Hope Farm has begun on campus this week, and we will do a ceremonial planting and photo to kick off the initiation-phase on- site at 11:30 – this first phase of the Farm is located right beside our Community Garden. Hope Farm is a planned organic farm project initiated in collaboration with SUNY Sullivan’s Sustainability Team, Culinary Program, and the New Hope Community! It is a major highlight of our Sustainability efforts for 2016, and we are thrilled to provide space and support for this powerful, health-focused, community-centered project.
Finally, our Performance Season is underway, and at 8:00 Thursday evening you won’t want to miss the ongoing performance of RAGTIME! in our Seelig Theater. This powerful musical depicts the American Experience at the turn of the 20th Century in NYC. Tickets are available at the door for a suggested donation of $10.00.
Many thanks to our hard-working Faculty, Staff, & Students across divisions and offices on campus who have made the multiple events for this great day possible! If Collaboration is the Key to Sustainability, then SUNY Sullivan is unlocking a Green, Green Future, and we hope you can join us on this celebratory day.
This Thursday, check out our vendors, catch a wildlife show, visit the site of the Hope Farm project for a ceremonial planting, chat with our local 5th-graders about how they view Sustainability in our world, and stay for an evening at the theater – all at SUNY Sullivan.
