Before traveling to the United States, there are some steps that you must take. Below is a list of those steps. The process should be easy, but if there is something you don’t understand, we are here to help you. All questions and/or concerns can be directed to the SUNY Sullivan International Admissions Office.
We look forward to seeing you on campus!
- You must pay a $350 SEVIS Form I-901 fee prior to going to the American embassy/consulate to apply for an F-1 student visa. Please visit www.fmjfee.com for more information on paying the I-901 fee and getting a receipt.
- You must complete Form DS-160, non-immigrant visa application, before you contact the American embassy/consulate for an interview. Form DS-160 can only be filled out electronically. Make sure you read all instructions before completing the form. There is a $160 fee for the DS-160 non-immigrant visa application.
- Bring your I-20, your SEVIS fee payment receipt, your passport, your letter of admission to SUNY Sullivan, as well as your evaluated academic records and FSA-4 financial document to your embassy appointment. SUNY Sullivan will send you the I-20, your FSA-4 financial document, and your academic record(s).
Do not attempt to enter the United States more than 30 days before the program start date as indicated on your Form I-20. Please report to the Admissions Office immediately after you arrive at SUNY Sullivan for the start of the semester.
