On Thursday, March 12th, 2020, SUNY Sullivan Adjunct Instructor Rocky Pinciotti was called into the office of Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Keith Pomakoy.

Pinciotti, a highly-regarded artist in his own right (in addition to serving as director and curator of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance), had no idea that he had been awarded the State University of New York’s Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching.

As per SUNY guidelines, recipients of the award, “are the SUNY community‚Äôs role models” and “must be respected by the campus community and worthy of emulation by colleagues and students on the home campus and across SUNY.”

No one on campus could argue with Pinciotti’s checking each of these boxes and more.

As his department head, Mark Lawrence cites Pinciotti’s “positive, can-do attitude, which can often be infectious. As an instructor, Rocky has full command of the classroom and is always bringing innovative and new ideas to inspire our students. His life experience in the graphic art community has become invaluable to our program. He is an integral part of our Visiting Artist Series and our Annual Student Art Show. His insight, humor and willingness to always go above and beyond have been indispensable to the success of our program.”

Please join us in congratulating Rocky Pinciotti on this well-deserved recognition!
