SUNY Sullivan Professor Betsy Conaty recently earned her Ed.D in Sports Management (Sport Fitness and Health). Her dissertation titled “Cortisol Response to Repeated Exercise During Water Immersion and Hyperbaric Oxygen Exposure” was part of a multi-phase study at the Navy Experimental Diving Unit with which she had been involved over the past few years, including time spent at the Diving Unit in Panama City, Florida doing hands-on testing of Navy divers.

Her work regarding this study was also published in the “Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Journal” last year. Dr. Conaty sat down with us to discuss the study, the three degree tracks she teaches in at SUNY Sullivan, and what her work with the Navy Experimental Diving Unit allowed her to bring back to the college.
