Sullivan Teams Earn Big Wins at HomeShare on Twitter!
Sullivan’s men’s and women’s basketball teams dominated the visiting Bronx Broncos.
With a great home crowd cheering on the Generals, the women’s team opened the evening and set the tone by ending the first quarter up 21-9 over the Bronx. In the second quarter, the Bronx defense managed to rein the Generals in to 11 points, but could not break out offensively, scoring only 2 themselves. After the half things continued apace, and the game concluded with the Generals’ 72 points more than double the Broncos’ 34. The game capped a 7-win streak for the Generals since their November 11th loss to Borough of Manhattan, and puts them 7-5 for the season, 1-0 in conference play. Their next game will be tomorrow, Saturday, January 27th, when they play Nassau. At their last meeting, the Generals eked out a 55-53 win.
At 7:00pm, the men’s teams took the court. When the first half ended, the Generals held a 48-26 lead, but after the half, a much stronger Bronx emerged, earning 31 points, and holding the Generals to 37. But it proved too little too late, and the #5 ranked Generals chalked up their third win in a row, bringing them to an impressive 16-2 for the season, 8-1 in conference play. They’ll join the women’s team this Saturday in Nassau. Like the women’s team, Sullivan’s last match-up against Nassau resulted in a razor-thin 60-58 victory for the Generals, so tomorrow’s games are all but guaranteed to be nail-biters!
