The new Drone Operator Microcredential Program is designed to equip students with essential skills in the rapidly growing field of drone technology. This program offers an opportunity for students to gain verified skills and competencies, enhancing their resumes and advancing their careers.
The Drone Operator Microcredential Program provides hands-on experience and practical knowledge in operating and maintaining Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). The program also covers the basic principles of flying drones, including how to maintain and operate different flight systems. Students will also learn essential troubleshooting techniques for ground control stations and UAS maintenance. Additionally, the program includes training in photography and video editing, focusing on exposure, composition, and editing skills that are marketable across various industries.
Graduates of this program will be well-prepared to create high-quality visual content for industries such as media production, law enforcement, engineering, and more. The hands-on approach ensures that students not only learn theoretical concepts but also gain practical experience that is directly applicable to real-world scenarios. Moreover, this microcredential can be partially stacked with SUNY Sullivan’s Computer Graphics/Graphic Design AAS degree, offering students an opportunity to expand their qualifications and career prospects further.
Students enrolled in this microcredential program may be eligible for New York State Part-Time Tuition Assistance for Non-Degree Credentials.
