Position Description
Job Summary:
SUNY Sullivan Community College is seeking to fill the position of Adjunct Instructor for a summer 2025 appointment. The employee will provide instruction for the following course: (AET1101) Unmanned Aerial Systems: Drones. IMPORTANT: This course will be offered on campus. This is a seated course. Instructors who are only available to teach online will not be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy and a culture of belonging.
Required Qualifications:
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 Certification
- Teaching experience, preferably in the community college setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills as necessary for working with diverse groups of people with varying backgrounds and learning styles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to and effectively learn new technologies (learning management systems, online tools, simulated lab environments, etc.)
- Familiarity with a breadth and depth of technologies, as applied to specific classes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning preferred; or Bachelor’s degree and 6 years or more experience in the field
- Experience working in a community college setting
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach Unmanned Aerial Systems: Drones course, as well as potential additional courses related to the applicant’s area of professional expertise as needed
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and possess the ability to effectively interact with a diverse student and employee population
- Hold reliable, appropriate office hours
- Take part as needed in advising/mentoring students, developing curricula, recruiting students, and attending division and faculty meetings

Salary is determined by a candidate’s rank at SUNY Sullivan, based on teaching experience, education, and other criteria. The full salary range is $655 to $740 per contact hour/course credit, per semester. Part-time, external adjunct faculty are not eligible to participate in a bargaining unit and employment with SUNY Sullivan is considered at will.
