SUNY Sullivan Announces 2025-2026 Empire State Service Corps Program, Investing in Local Community

SUNY Sullivan is proud to announce its participation in the Empire State Service Corps (ESSC) program for the 2025-2026 academic year. This initiative, championed by Governor Kathy Hochul, will provide valuable service opportunities for SUNY Sullivan students while addressing critical community needs within Sullivan County.

The Empire State Service Corps program connects students with local organizations, offering paid service experiences that enhance their academic learning and foster civic engagement. SUNY Sullivan students will have the opportunity to contribute to projects focused on areas such as food security, working with local food banks and pantries to address hunger in the region;

environmental sustainability, participating in initiatives that promote conservation and environmental awareness; youth services, mentoring and providing educational support to local youth; and supporting programs that enhance access to education, healthcare, and other essential services.

The program aims to provide students with paid service opportunities that complement their academic studies while addressing pressing community needs through collaborative projects with local organizations. ESS Corps will foster a culture of civic engagement and service among SUNY Sullivan students while strengthening partnerships between the College and community organizations.

“The Empire State Service Corps program represents a significant investment in both SUNY Sullivan students and the Sullivan County community,” said Jaime Schmeiser, SUNY Sullivan Director of Workforce Development. “The College is proud to be a part of this initiative and looks forward to a successful program year.”

SUNY Sullivan is currently seeking applications from students interested in participating in the 2025-2026 Empire State Service Corps program, as well as community-based organizations and/or school districts in Sullivan County interested in hosting Empire State Service Corps members.
