SUNY Sullivan also hosting Admissions Open House
SUNY Sullivan will host its 32nd Annual SpringFest: Kites, College and Community (formerly called Kite Festival) on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The FREE, family-friendly community event will feature professional kite flying demonstrations, free kites for the first 300 kids, candy drops, and inflatable bouncy houses. The event will take place rain or shine.
SUNY Sullivan’s Admissions Open House will also be taking place, and will provide prospective students with an opportunity to explore the college. The event will include a presentation on SUNY Sullivan’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), campus tours, and staff from admissions and financial aid available to answer questions. In addition, prospective students can learn about the Sullivan Promise Scholarship, which offers free tuition and fees for one year to eligible Sullivan County residents who earn a high school diploma or GED in 2025. Students can complete a free application on site, and those who bring a transcript can apply for instant acceptance.
The day’s events will also include drone demonstrations, live farm animals, dance and theater performances, a student art show, and shooting and other skills demonstrations by both SUNY Sullivan’s men’s and women’s basketball teams. In addition, visitors can explore dozens of food and craft vendors, as well as learn more about several local and regional non-profit and community organizations.
SUNY Sullivan’s nursing program, culinary program, and the men’s and women’s Basketball teams will provide demonstrations, and information sessions will be held with language arts and history faculty.
SpringFest is co-sponsored by the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association, with media sponsorship from Bold Gold Media Group. Ellenville Regional Hospital, Kristt Kelly Office Systems, New York Life, and the Sullivan County Democrat have also provided support to SpringFest. All proceeds from the event will benefit the SUNY Sullivan Foundation, which plays a critical role in sustaining our ability to make SUNY Sullivan accessible and affordable for all.
