Student Ambassador – Nursing Programs (part-time)

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Nursing Programs or their designee, the Nursing Program Ambassador assists the Health Science Student Navigator with mentoring, tutoring, and recruiting potential students who wish to enter one of the Nursing programs at SUNY Sullivan. Additionally, the Student Ambassador – Nursing Programs will attend College fair programs, high school visits, and BOCES programs throughout the state of New York and neighboring states, as well as representing SUNY Sullivan during open houses. Successful candidates enjoy working with people; have a background in nursing or adjacent sciences, have a wide range of experiences and a willingness to share these experiences with prospective students and their families. Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • CNA certification or LPN license recommended
  • Valid NYS driver’s license and ability to travel in an unrestricted manner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) preferred
  • Experience in higher education
  • Successful completion (With a grade of B or higher) of upper-level college level science courses: Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and/or Microbiology preferred
  • Bilingual language skill a plus

  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Google suite and Zoom helpful.

  • Assist the Health Science Student Navigator in promoting SUNY Sullivan’s Nursing program to prospective students and their families (including but not limited to on-campus workshops, online workshops, college fairs, creating flyers, etc.).
  • Traveling to recruitment venues as deemed necessary by the SUNY Sullivan Nursing or Admissions departments to recruit prospective nursing students for enrollment (College vehicle is available).
  • Assisting the Health Science Student Navigator in tutoring upcoming nursing students in science-based nursing courses such as Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology, through facilitating recurring student workshops throughout the year (including Summer and Winter Sessions).
  • Participating in helping staff some SUNY Sullivan Admissions booths at fairs and recruitment events for the purpose of reaching out to prospective nursing students and sharing information about the SUNY Sullivan Nursing program, potential majors prior to applying to the Nursing program, opportunities and their own personal experience within the SUNY Sullivan system to prospective students, as designated by the Director of Nursing Programs.
  • Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Programs

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
