SUNY Sullivan is inviting New York State residents and taxpayers to take advantage of a limited-time giving opportunity through the SUNY Impact Foundation NYS Charitable Tax Credit Program—an initiative that allows donors to make a powerful difference for students while receiving exceptional state tax benefits.
Through the program, individuals can make a charitable gift to the SUNY Impact Foundation, designate the funds to benefit SUNY Sullivan, and receive up to an 85% New York State tax credit on the amount of their gift. In addition, the remaining 15% of the gift may be eligible for both state and federal tax deductions for those who itemize.
“This is a win-win for our community,” said SUNY Sullivan Foundation Chairman Jose Herrera. “Donors can help us strengthen educational opportunities for our students while significantly reducing their New York State tax liability. It’s one of the most beneficial giving programs we’ve ever been able to offer.”
Key details
- Minimum Gift: $10,000
- Maximum Gift: $100,000
- Eligibility: Donors must be New York State residents or have a New York State tax liability. Only gifts from individuals are eligible; donor-advised funds, family foundations, and IRAs are excluded.
- Application Period: Aug. 4 – Sept. 30, 2025
- Donation Deadline: Nov. 26, 2025 (stock transfers by Nov. 21, 2025)
Funds raised through the program will be directed to student-focused initiatives at SUNY Sullivan.
This opportunity has limited availability, as the program has a $10 million SUNY-wide cap. If the cap is surpassed, the SUNY Impact Foundation will prorate requests. For example, if applications from all SUNY campuses total $20 million, donors will receive 50% of the amount they’ve requested.
