Adult Learner Leadership (ALL) Recruiter and Outreach Coordinator

The part-time Adult Learner Leadership (ALL) Recruiter and Outreach Coordinator will support SUNY Sullivan’s strategic enrollment efforts by engaging and enrolling adult learners, including individuals returning to education, career changers, veterans, and those seeking workforce development or upskilling opportunities. This role involves active community engagement, relationship building with local employers and organizations, and providing individualized support to adult students throughout the enrollment process. This position reports to the Director of Admissions or director’s designee.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience working with adult learners, workforce development, or in community engagement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with public speaking and presenting to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with CRM systems preferred
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license for off-campus travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of challenges and barriers faced by adult learners in higher education
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English or other local languages) is a plus
  • Experience in admissions, recruiting, advising, or a related field

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with adult learners
  • Ability to deliver presentations and conduct outreach in various community settings
  • Organizational skills to maintain accurate records and follow up with prospective students
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments such as advising, financial aid, and student services

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Promote SUNY Sullivan’s degree, certificate, and micro-credential programs tailored for adult learners
  • Conduct outreach to local employers, workforce centers, libraries, and community organizations
  • Attend career fairs, adult education events, and community gatherings to recruit prospective students
  • Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries via phone, text, email, and in person
  • Conduct individual and group information sessions designed to address adult learners’ goals and concerns
  • Assist prospective students with the enrollment process, including application, placement testing, financial aid, and registration
  • Collaborate with academic advisors, financial aid, and student services to ensure smooth onboarding and support for adult learners
  • Maintain detailed records of outreach efforts and interactions with prospective students

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed both on campus and in the community
  • Must be able to travel locally and attend events off-site, sometimes during evenings or weekends
  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and to carry materials for presentations or outreach
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other standard office equipment

Part-time hourly staff are not eligible to participate in a bargaining unit and employment with SUNY Sullivan is considered at will.

Salary & Application
