E-Sports Coach

The E-Sports Coach is responsible for the overall operation of our E-Sports program and arena. This person will also assist with student recruitment and retention.

This position reports to the Director of Athletics and works hours approved by the director and as needed to meet athletic programming and department schedule requirements. Weekend and evening hours are required, as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, Recreation, or a related field
  • At least three (3) years of experience in E-Sports coaching and/or athletic administration, preferably at the collegiate level
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to inspire leadership and achievement among student-athletes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Experience with NJCAA, Region XV, or Mid-Hudson Conference compliance
  • Experience managing and maintaining an E-Sports Arena and related technology

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to lead and organize competitive E-Sports programming
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with collegiate-level athletic regulations and compliance
  • Ability to serve as a mentor and advocate for student-athletes
  • Technical competency with gaming platforms, streaming software, and hardware used in E-Sports

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coaching and Program Development

  • Direct and coordinate the planning, organization, and execution of SUNY Sullivan’s E-Sports program
  • Develop practice schedules and competition calendars in accordance with institutional policies
  • Recruit and retain student-athletes for the E-Sports program
  • Provide instruction, mentorship, and skill development to student-athletes
  • Oversee the SUNY Sullivan E-Sports Arena, including equipment maintenance and scheduling

Compliance and Administration

  • Ensure compliance with institutional, NJCAA, Region XV, and Mid-Hudson Conference regulations and standards
  • Maintain program records, statistics, and required reporting for internal and external agencies
  • Prepare budget recommendations, monitor expenditures, and reconcile program accounts
  • Evaluate and implement E-Sports strategies, systems, and innovations

Student-Athlete Support and Retention

  • Serve as a liaison to Admissions, Financial Aid, Residence Life, Learning Center, and other campus services
  • Support the academic success of E-Sports student-athletes through academic monitoring and advising
  • Provide counseling on academic, personal, and disciplinary matters, and collaborate with appropriate campus personnel as needed
  • Assist current players in their recruitment to higher-level competitive or academic programs

Community and Professional Engagement

  • Represent the Athletics Department and SUNY Sullivan at professional, civic, alumni, and promotional events
  • Promote the E-Sports program through campus events, media relations, and social media

SALARY AND APPLICATION
