Serve Your Community, Build Your Future:

Empire State Service Corps

Do you want to serve the community, make a difference, build lifelong skills, gain hands-on experience, and get paid?! Get all of this and more through the Empire State Service Corps at SUNY Sullivan!

About the Program

SUNY Sullivan is seeking motivated students to participate in the Empire State Service Corps. Selected students will engage in 300 hours of paid public service work over the academic year and will be paid $16 an hour.

Assignments could include:

  • Tutoring in high-need K-12 schools, supporting recovery from pandemic-era learning loss.
  • Supporting regional food banks and SNAP outreach to address food insecurity.
  • Working on campus supporting students with SNAP outreach as well as basic needs support (including shifts at the campus food pantry).
  • Working with local non-profits focused on ending hate and bias in the community.
  • Serving with local non-profits on civic engagement, including nonpartisan voter outreach.
  • Serving in local communities and visiting local high schools and working on campus to support students in completing the FAFSA.
  • Assisting with environmental conservation projects in the Catskills, including sustainability work such as recycling campaigns, tree planting, and pollinator gardens.

These opportunities allow SUNY Sullivan students to be paid for meaningful work that can provide lifelong skills as well as service to their community. You'll also attend monthly meetings to connect with fellow Corps members, share your experiences, discuss your impact, and learn from each other.

Are you a SUNY Sullivan student ready to make a difference? SUNY students are encouraged to apply here between now and the April 18 priority deadline.

Note: The application includes a few short, easy essay questions.
