Programs of Study

Liberal Arts & Sciences, AS: Science Concentration

Degree: AS  |  Graduation Requirements: 60-62 credits

Program Summary:

This concentration is intended to provide students with a solid background in sciences.

The Liberal Arts & Sciences, AS: Science Concentration is a two-year university-parallel program recommended for those who plan to transfer to a four-year school with a major in science or a science-oriented field. Students with degrees in science may pursue careers in research, education, medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, and chiropractic.

Students entering this program should be well grounded in mathematics and sciences at the high school level since this is the major emphasis of the program. An entering student should have at least three years of Regents-level mathematics and three years of Regents-level science or their equivalent. A student with less preparation will require more time to complete the concentration.

Upon completion of the Liberal Arts & Sciences, AS: Science Concentration, majors will be able to:

  • Demonstrate essential and foundational knowledge in the natural sciences and/or mathematics.
  • Transfer to a four-year institution to earn a bachelor’s degree in science.
