Director of Workforce Development (FT)

The Director of Workforce Development is the college’s leader in partnering with Sullivan County Workforce Development as well as with SUNY initiatives related to contract, credit and non-credit programming. This position provides strategic leadership and direction to the College’s effort in response to workforce needs.

This position reports to the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. This position is a member of the Professional Staff Association (PSA)

The full salary range is $64,000 to $70,000 per academic year.

Evening and weekend hours may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred in Business Administration, Student Personnel Services, Marketing, Higher Education Leadership, Enrollment Management or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of related experience, preferably at a community college. 
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of the diversity of community college academic, certificate, and micro-credential programs , non-credit training and apprenticeship models, and the application of associated careers and job paths.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and student success.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work effectively with administrators, academic leadership, faculty, students, community leadership, public officials, funding agencies, and members of the community at large.
  • Ability to perform successfully under the pressure of deadlines and other administrative demands.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize and manage the College’s workforce development programming.
    • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the College’s effort to develop and maximize contract, noncredit, and continuing professional education that responds to workforce needs. 
    • Build and maintain relationships with local employers, government and non-profit agencies, and economic development organizations. Establish and maintain the college as a critical and trusted partner in regional workforce development
    • Serve as a liaison for the College with business and industry partners, private funders, government officials, and grant agencies. 
  • Work closely with academic unites and regional partners to develop and offer credit and non-credit programs to meet regional workforce needs and take advantage of state opportunities
  • Develop and manage a year-round program of non-credit workforce programs related to regional employment needs, ensuring the financial viability of the program
  • Participate in SUNY workforce opportunities
  • Oversee the college’s Testing Center operation
  • Manage the College’s federal Perkin’s grant and chair the Perkins/VTEA Advisory Committee
  • Research and pursue grant opportunities related to workforce development
  • In collaboration with the campus community, work to further the institution’s goals towards diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
