Dean of Student Development Services (FT)

The Dean of Student Development Services provides leadership and oversight to Enrollment Management, Learning and Student Development Services (Learning Center), Admissions, and Student Activities. As the College’s primary advocate for student needs outside of the classroom, the Dean works to ensure a positive student experience.

This position reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, and supervises the following:  Learning Center staff, Director of Admissions, Student Activities Coordinator, EOP Director, Liberty Partnership Program (LPP) Project Director, Title IX Coordinator, and the One Stop Office Manager.

Weekend and evening hours are required, as necessary.

The position is classified as Management Confidential.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, student personnel administration, or related discipline, doctorate highly preferred.
  • Five years of higher education experience three years of which shall be at the department chair, director level or above.
  • Experience in the delivery of student services traditionally associated with the dean of students.
  • Leadership skills in planning, budget management, human resources management and student life.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, student personnel administration, or related discipline
  • Three years of higher education experience as a staff, faculty, or manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Department Leadership and Oversight

  • Oversee the departments/functions of the Learning Center, Admissions, Student Activities, EOP, and Enrollment Management.
  • Facilitate the development of department(s) goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Facilitate the preparation and administration of the annual budgets.
  • Facilitate the establishment, maintenance and monitoring of metrics to support the assessment of each function’s contribution to the college’s strategic goals, and the use of the assessment results for continuous improvement.
  • Review and recommend work methods and procedures to improve the department(s) efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinates the preparation of administrative reports when requested.

Student Experience

  • Directs and coordinates activities related to student life.
    • Directs and manages the response to student life crisis.
  • Establish relationships with other departments across campus and with external constituencies to provide effective programming and services for students and to refer students to appropriate resources across campus and within the community.
  • Fosters collaborative relationships among college constituents (e.g., faculty, staff, students and parents)
  • Ensures that the institution is in compliance with Title IX regulations.

Other

  • Participates in the collective bargaining process as a member of the College’s negotiating team, assisting in the preparation of negotiation proposals, providing information and support to the chief negotiator and representing the College, as required, at labor management meetings.
