Position Description
SUNY Sullivan is accepting applications for a part-time, adjunct faculty position to teach General Chemistry.
The individual must possess the ability to teach seated lecture and laboratory sections of General Chemistry I and II. These courses are scheduled to be taught on campus.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy and a culture of belonging.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in chemistry or related sciences
- At least three (3) years of teaching or equivalent experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D in chemistry or related sciences
- Experience working in higher education environment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach up to 14 contact hours of general chemistry courses, as well as potential additional courses related to the applicant’s area of professional expertise
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and possess the ability to effectively interact with a diverse student and employee population
- Hold reliable, appropriate office hours
- Take part as needed in advising/mentoring students, developing curricula, recruiting students, and attending division and faculty meetings

Salary is determined by a candidate’s rank at SUNY Sullivan, based on teaching experience, education, etc. The full salary range is $655 to $740 per contact hour/course credit per semester. Part-time, external adjunct faculty are not eligible to participate in a bargaining unit and employment with SUNY Sullivan is considered at will.
