Job Summary:
The Clinical Documentation Coordinator of Nursing Programs is responsible for ensuring accurate and complete clinical documentation in student nursing medical records. This role involves reviewing medical records, collaborating with healthcare providers, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies of various clinical sites.
This is a full-time, Professional Staff Association union position reporting to the Director of Nursing Programs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health information management, or a related field
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in clinical documentation improvement, healthcare quality, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and healthcare documentation standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Proficient in using computers to monitor document entry database
- Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing documentation
- Occasional walking, standing, and reaching
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Documentation Review
- Review student medical records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with clinical documentation standards
- Ensure that all necessary clinical information is documented in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
Collaboration with Healthcare Providers
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to obtain accurate and complete documentation
- Provide education and feedback to healthcare providers on clinical documentation best practices and requirements
Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular audits of clinical documentation to identify areas for improvement
- Implement and monitor corrective actions to address documentation deficiencies
Compliance and Regulatory Standards
- Ensure that clinical documentation meets all regulatory and accreditation standards, including those set by CMS, Joint Commission, and other governing bodies
- Stay updated on changes in regulations and documentation requirements
Data Management
- Maintain accurate records of documentation reviews, audits, and educational activities
- Generate reports on documentation quality and compliance metrics
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
May require occasional evening or weekend hours to meet with evening student cohort.

Salary range is $53,500-$60,000
