Faculty – Criminal Justice (FT)

Position Description

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chair of Liberal Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the full-time Criminal Justice faculty will teach a minimum of 15 contact hours both fall and spring, and work with the Chair managing the curriculum.  Courses include Introduction to Criminal Justice, Police Operations, Criminal Law and Procedure, etc.  Faculty serve on college-wide committees and serve as academic advisors. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy and a Culture of Belonging. These courses are scheduled to be taught on campus with an anticipated start of Fall Semester 2025.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in criminal justice or related field
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience, community college experience is a plus
  • Ability to teach various modalities and experience with learning management systems such as Brightspace

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate preferred
  • Experience in higher education

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach required load of 15 contact hours in Fall Semester and 15 contact hours in Spring Semester
  • Serve as an academic advisor
  • Work with Department Chair managing the Criminal Justice Curriculum
  • Participate in shared governance across campus
  • Track program data to remain in compliance with Middle States Commission on Higher Education assessment criteria, and more importantly for the purpose of continuous improvement
  • Performs other appropriate activities as assigned by the Chair, Dean, and/or Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching and possess the ability to effectively interact with a diverse student and staff population
  • Hold appropriate office hours
  • Take part as needed in typical activities of a full-time faculty member, including the following: advising/mentoring students, developing curriculum, recruiting students, and attending division and faculty meetings
