UX/UI Virtual Lecture by Steven Ma, Staff UX Lead and Manager at Google
October 9 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Students and faculty are welcome to come to the Mac Lab D104 on Wednesday, Oct. 9th at Noon for an hour lecture and talk about the business end of UI/UX design. (It will be a remote zoom call – projected on my lab screen)
The speaker’s name is Steven Ma, Staff UX lead and manager at Google, and he happens to be my cousin as well.
He will be generally talking about these two topics.
- How UXers go about doing UX design – talking about the psychological perception of human, and physical and physiological limitations, and how UXers use data to inform design choices.
- Forward-looking prospect of the industry – what has transpired with hiring over the last couple of years, what the hiring trend looks like, and how a student can improve their odds of getting a job in the field – For this segment, my highlights are the importance of offering soft skills (leadership, ownership, and impact) that complement with their design skills.
