Veteran & Military Students

Veteran & Military Students

SUNY Sullivan recognizes the sacrifices of those who are currently serving or who have served in the United States Armed Forces, and we are grateful for your service. To honor your service, we are committed to making the transition to the classroom a successful one. Whether you are a new student, or returning student, or you are transferring to our campus from another institution, we are here to help you make the most of your time at SUNY Sullivan!

A Support Network

The transition from military service to civilian life can be difficult, as an institution that is approved under the Veterans Educational Assistance Act (GI Bill), we want to help you maximize your benefits. Visit the Learning Center's Veteran Student Services page to learn more.

Veteran and serving students can also enjoy the Battle Buddy Room in the C building! With couches, a coffee maker, a refrigerator, computers, and more, our Battle Buddy Room is a lounge where military students and veteran students have a safe space to do work and relax. SUNY Sullivan also has a Veterans Club for its military and veteran student population.

Affordability & Flexibility

We are here to support you as you navigate your transition to the classroom, which means giving you information on all your options and assisting you in your college journey. SUNY Sullivan is an open-enrollment 2-year institution with a free application and low-cost tuition, but we still want to help our Veteran Student population get the most out of their college experience.

There are a variety of financial aid options available, as well as flexibility in scheduling with classes with a variety of learning modes and class types. Plus, our 40+ associate degree and certificate programs give you plenty of options for your degree and our small classes provide students with individualized attention!

Campus Community

SUNY Sullivan offers a variety of student activities to keep you busy when you’re not going to class, studying, or working. Our clubs and organizations (like the Veterans Club) give students the opportunities to connect with their classmates, pursue their interests, and form communities. We acknowledge that your military service provides you with leadership skills and many other unique skills and qualities that will help you greatly contribute to these clubs and organizations, while providing the opportunity to connect with the campus community.

The Bottom Line

SUNY Sullivan is here to help you continue your education and transition to civilian life. The combination of resources, support, and personalized attention SUNY Sullivan provides makes it an excellent place for our active military and veteran students to begin (or continue) your academic career.
