Academic Advising
Once they are admitted to SUNY Sullivan, all incoming full-time and part-time students are advised and registered with a staff advisor in the Learning Center. Each student is paired with a faculty advisor from their chosen field of study. The staff advisor serves as mentor to their students, helping them pursue their dreams and excel in their studies.
Advising Information
Students must work collaboratively with their advisor:
- Review your program of study (aka Track Sheet) every semester. Track sheets are available on the college website.
- Prepare questions about your program, career plans, plans for transfer, etc. before meeting with your advisor.
- If you are a transfer student, make sure your credits transfer in.
- If you choose to change your major/career choice, go over this with your advisor before you register for classes.
Student information on mysunysullivan.edu consists of:
- Current schedule
- Unofficial transcript
- 3rd and 5th week reports midterm
- End of semester grades
- Financial information
- Track sheets
If a student requires technical assistance, they can contact the IT Helpdesk at 845-434-5750 x4457.
Students are asked to make an appointment with their advisor when registration begins for a new semester.
Online students should discuss their schedules with their advisor prior to registration.
Students must also follow the correct track sheet for their course of study to stay on track for graduation.
Students’ advisors are listed on their schedules. If they do not know who their advisor is, they can contact any Division Secretary or the Learning Center.
During Winter/Summer breaks, the Learning Center assists with advising registration for all new/continuing students. Registration for continuing and new students begins in April and November.

MISSION STATEMENT
SUNY Sullivan Faculty Advisors choose to advise to connect with students and because of their desire to see them succeed. Students are assigned Faculty Advisors who teach in their programs of study so they can offer quality, comprehensive advisement. All programs are represented by at least one Faculty Advisor with Staff Advisors available to serve as back-up during winter and summer breaks.
Advisors support students throughout their careers at SUNY Sullivan by providing guidance on course selection and career choices, and referring to appropriate resources as needed.
