NYS EMT Original & Refresher Course
SUNY Sullivan's Emergency Medical Technician program prepares students for NYS DOH certification. The course combines classroom instruction with hands-on skills training and real-world clinical experience. Students complete evening sessions, practice essential EMT skills during labs at SUNY Sullivan, and gain practical experience through 24 hours of ride-along time with emergency medical services. Graduates enter a high-demand profession with strong career advancement opportunities in emergency medical services, fire departments, hospitals, and related healthcare fields.
What you will learn
- Life-saving emergency care: CPR, AED use, airway management, and oxygen delivery
- Patient assessment: Quickly identify life-threatening conditions and prioritize care
- Trauma response: Control bleeding, manage shock, stabilize fractures and injuries
