Beverly Moore, Professor for Social Sciences, Sustainability & Entrepreneurship
Beverly Moore, from the Social Sciences, Sustainability & Entrepreneurship Division, was the driving force in bringing a two-year Psychology degree program to SUNY Sullivan, at a time when no other schools in the SUNY System were offering one. While still a fairly new program, it has already been a bridge for a number of alumni to employment in social service agencies through the region and across the state. Dr. Moore is especially delighted to hear from students who are pursuing PhDs in the field.
Despite having been teaching at SUNY Sullivan for over 12 years, Dr. Moore came to education late in life, first entering college at the age of forty.
On deciding to pursue her education, Dr. Moore, who had spent years working on her farm in rural Alabama, recalls: "My one and only child, my son, graduated from high school and joined the Army, and so I thought, 'Wow, why am I still doing all this? I always wanted to go to school.'"
