Why Work at SUNY Sullivan
The only institution of higher education in Sullivan County, SUNY Sullivan is committed to serving all members of the community, providing an outstanding education and a tremendous student experience. A dedicated mission-driven team makes that happen and the community you'll find here is welcoming, collegial and caring.
We hire across a range of roles: full-time faculty and professional staff, civil service positions, part-time and adjunct instructors, and grant-funded positions. Benefits vary by position type — download the summary sheet for your role below.
Benefits Built for the Long Run
Full-time employees at SUNY Sullivan have access to the New York State retirement system — one of the strongest public pension programs in the country. Add comprehensive medical coverage through the NYSHIP Empire Plan, college-paid life and disability insurance, and dental and vision coverage, and you have a foundation that holds.
We also offer flexible spending accounts, voluntary supplemental coverage options, and an annual financial incentive for employees who already carry health coverage through another plan.
Room To Grow
We’re a college — so it makes sense that we take education seriously for our staff, not just our students. Employees can take classes at SUNY Sullivan at no cost. Those enrolled in degree programs at other SUNY institutions may qualify for tuition reimbursement through the SUNY system.
Our Employee Assistance Program covers far more than counseling. Financial guidance, legal services, career support, and professional training are all included — free and confidential — for every employee.
Time Off That Means Something
SUNY Sullivan observes more than 15 paid holidays each year. Most full-time staff enjoy Summer Fridays — a compressed schedule that closes the campus on Fridays for a portion of the summer months.
Eligible positions include paid vacation, sick time, personal days, bereavement leave, and dedicated paid time for cancer screenings. Faculty positions are 10-month appointments, with no requirement to work during summer or winter breaks.
A Campus Worth Showing Up To
Our Catskills campus isn’t just a place to work — it’s a place to spend time.
Employees have access to:
- On-campus fitness facilities
- Walking and nature trails
- A community garden and working apiary
- A weekly wellness hour
- Volleyball courts
- Regular community events
How to Apply
Most positions require a cover letter, résumé, and the names and contact information for three professional references. Faculty positions also require a statement of teaching philosophy. Please note in your cover letter where you found the posting.
All applicants may be subject to a background check.
SUNY Sullivan is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental ability, military obligations, or marital status.
