MIDDLE STATES ACCREDITATION

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is the unit of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in the Middle States region.

Standards of Accreditation

During SUNY Sullivan’s most recent Self-Study and accreditation review process in 2010-12, Middle States required institutions to demonstrate excellence in 14 Standards for accreditation. Since then, Middle States has adjusted its accreditation process and now evaluates institutions on seven (7)  Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation.

SUNY Sullivan is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) www.msche.org. SUNY Sullivan’s accreditation status is fully accredited. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on November 11, 2023, was to warn the institution. MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Accreditation Cycle & Timeline

The Commission maintains an 8-year cycle of review, beginning with a self-study and on-site evaluation visit;  SUNY Sullivan’s scheduled accreditation will take place during the 2022-23 academic year.
