MIDDLE STATES ACCREDITATION
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is the unit of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in the Middle States region.
Standards of Accreditation
During SUNY Sullivan’s most recent Self-Study and accreditation review process in 2023, Middle States required institutions to demonstrate excellence in 14 Standards for accreditation. Since then, Middle States has adjusted its accreditation process and now evaluates institutions on seven (7) Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation.
As of November 2024, The Middle States Commission on HIgher Education has confirmed that SUNY Sullivan remains fully accredited and in compliance with Standard V (Educational Effectiveness Assessment), Standard VI (Planning, Resources, and Institutional Improvement), and former Requirement of Affiliation 9.
The college will furnish a monitoring report, due August 8, 2025, demonstrating sustainability of implemented corrective measures and further evidence of (1) organized and systematic assessments, conducted by faculty and/or appropriate professionals, evaluating the extent of student achievement of institutional and degree/program goals (Standard V); (2) structures to support and sustain assessment of student learning outcomes and communicate the results of this assessment to stakeholders; and (3) consideration and use of assessment results for the improvement of student learning outcomes, student achievement, and institutional and program-level effectiveness (Standard V) (Fourteenth Edition and Evidence Expectations by Standard Guidelines). A follow-up team visit may follow submission of the monitoring report. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2030-2031.
